Teachers and their salaries....

Are you sick of highly paid teachers?
Teachers' hefty salaries are driving up taxes, and they only work 9 or10 months a year! It's time we put things in perspective and pay them for what they do - babysit!
We can get that for less than minimum wage.

That's right. Let's give them $3.00 an hour and only the hours they worked; not any of that silly planning time, or any time they spend before or after school. That would be $19.50 a day (7:45 to 3:00 PM with 45 min. off for lunch and plan-- that equals 6 1/2 hours).

Each parent should pay $19.50 a day for these teachers to baby-sit their children. Now how many students do they teach in a day...maybe 30? So that's $19.50 x 30 = $585.00 a day.
However, remember they only work 180 days a year!!! I am not going to pay them for any vacations.
LET'S SEE....
That's $585 X 180= $105,300
per year. (Hold on! My calculator needs new batteries).

     What about those special
education teachers and the ones with Master's degrees? Well, we could pay them minimum wage ($7.75), and just to be fair, round it off to $8.00 an
hour. That would be $8 X 6 1/2 hours X 30 children X 180 days = $280,800 per year.
Wait a minute -- there's
something wrong here! There sure is!
The average teacher's salary
(nation wide) is $50,000. $50,000/180 days
= $277.77/per day/30
students=$9.25/6.5 hours = $1.42 per hour per student--a very inexpensive baby-sitter and they even EDUCATE your kids!) WHAT A DEAL!!!!

Make a teacher smile; repost this to show appreciation for all educators!

My Secrets

My Secrets:

-- I secretly keep tons of things "just in case." For example:
    * "I better keep that horrible palette of eye shadow just in case I buy an outfit that would match it, or maybe just for a spirit day!" When in reality, I wear the same two eye shadows when I even wear eye shadow at all.
    * "I better keep that horrible denim skirt and tacky pair of boots just in case I need to dress up like a cowgirl" when in reality, I've dressed up as a cowgirl one time in my life and don't see it in my future.

-- I secretly wish I lived in a big city just for a freedom of fashion. I wish I could be Carrie Bradshaw just for a few days :)

-- I secretly have a huge emotional connection to all things from my past and cannot let go of them, like toys, books, bedroom decor, gifts, etc.

-- I secretly cannot seem to keep my home desk and bedroom clean, but my classroom and desk at work were kept organized and clear.

-- I secretly hope that we get pregnant without officially being "ready" just to relieve that stress and pressure.

-- I secretly cannot pay full price for anything and I am a sucker for a good deal!

-- I secretly hate getting ready. Showering, drying and then straightening hair, followed by makeup and outfit choosing just takes so much time and seems overrated!  haha

-- I secretly worry constantly and am a pack rat because of it!

-- I secretly love the clearance section of every store! Ok, so maybe that's not a real secret...haha

-- I secretly think I was born in the wrong era....I belong in an era with more morals, traditions and respect.... like maybe the 50s?

-- I secretly wonder if I'm going to be a good teacher.......heck, I worry if I'm going to be a good mother, too!

-- I secretly hate touching other people's hair--- I HATE braiding hair for people........

-- I secretly am OCD about making permanent changes to things--- like using permanent marker on things or using a highlighter in a book..... I even keep original packaging and boxes for some things....

-- I secretly worried for months that I would be left at the alter after watching Sex and the City: The Movie...

-- I secretly re-plan our wedding in my head because so many things didn't go the way we wanted.....

-- I secretly am really good at stalking and researching online.... A bit of news online can be complete with details and comments about it in no time! I sometimes think I should be a detective!! haha

-- I secretly don't have the slightest bit of creativity or craftiness... but I pretend I do because I really wish that I did!

Real Life...

Real life at our house....

Real life at our house means that we eat almost every meal from a box, bag or take out container.... I'm working on cooking more, but it's a slow process.. I've set a goal to cook 2 meals a week, and I'm sticking to it, but any more than that is tough!

Real life at our house is having the TV on all evening bouncing from favorite show to favorite show...or movie to movie (that's how it is with a movie buff for a husband)

Real life for us is planning our future all the time... what our house will look like, what we'll name our kids, what we want to save our money for, etc....

Real life at our house is Dave Matthews, Pearl Jam, The Beatles, or other favorite bands playing often from the computer speakers...

Real life at our house is Cam watching movies and me surfing the internet.... planning my future classroom most evenings after dinner...

Real life at our house is a cluttered bedroom because we haven't bought a home yet and we use our bedroom for everything--- office, theater, dining room, storage room and bedroom.

Real life for us is an unmade bed that I cannot wait to crawl into every day after work...

Real life for me is sweet snack late at night.... every night! Usually chocolate milk and a sweet indulgence of some kind...

Real life for us means constant injuries, illnesses, doctor's appointment that often alter or cancel plans due Cam's heart condition, benign tumor, and ruptured disk....

Real life for us is using furniture from college or passed down to us because we don't want to move our nice furniture to our apartment because we have hopes of a  new house soon...

Real life for us seems tough at times, but we get through it, day by day, because of our love for each other....

What a week!

Last week, I was watching our nephew on Friday night at my mom's house and then Saturday was going to be a girl's day with my family to take my grandma out for a good meal and family visit, so Cam made plans to meet up with one of his friends. They were up late (of course) and had to get up early, and when Cam called me Saturday morning, he sounded horrible! He still had an hour's drive home, so I was worried about him. I kept asking if I could go meet him and drive him home, but he insisted that he would be OK. When he finally got home, he went straight to bed. After my family outing, I came home to a feverish, chilling and sleepy husband. He stayed in bed for the remainder of the weekend, so I spent a lot of time surfing the internet for classroom ideas. With his flu, I knew I couldn't go see Grandma and take the chance of getting her sick, so I haven't seen her since Saturday! :(

Monday, he couldn't go to work and stayed in bed all day. By Tuesday, he had a horrible, dry cough! He decided this wasn't getting better with all the Theraflu, Nyquil, and fluids, and went to the doctor. While at work, I checked my phone to find a message saying that the doctor said he had the worst type of flu a person could get.... he called it "The Devil's Flu."  Cam got a shot and tons of medicines, a Tamaflu for me, and a note saying that he could return to work on Friday. He was also told, of course, that it's horribly contagious, but by that point, I had spent three days with him.... so what was another one or two, right?! haha      We did open all the windows that night and air the apartment out, and sanitized EVERYTHING.... but by that evening, I could tell that Cam was already feeling better.

Wednesday morning, I went out to leave for work (actually early somehow that morning) and my car wouldn't start----- dead battery! I should have suspected it because it had seemed sluggish for a day or two, but I thought maybe it was all the cold weather......... NOPE... dead battery. Luckily, Cam still had to stay home from work, so I grabbed his keys and was on my way....With all the commotion and my decision to stop for a drink to take to work with me, I was almost late for work, AND spilled Powerade down my new coat! Also,  I had decided to dress up that day so I was waddling around in heels, in the blowing snow!   That evening, I came home and slept for almost 3 hours. I was exhausted and didn't feel like messing with the car.

Thursday, I was going to take Cam's car again to work (and deal with mine that evening) but when I got ready to leave, his door wouldn't latch!!! We checked everything, and STILL don't know what the problem was. Cam decided that he was going to hold the door tightly and drive me to work. He got in and fiddled around the handle and lock, and got to stay------ by locking the door---- but THEN the door wouldn't open! He crawled back out and told me to crawl in and head to work.... so by now, I'm picturing myself crawling out of the passenger side at work with my purse, tutoring bag, and gym bag (to teach my fitness class). I also didn't have anything for a lunch that day and wasn't about to crawl out and back in on my lunch break, so I ran back in and grabbed a LOAF of bread and JAR of peanut butter.. Yup! No time to make a sandwich or just grab what I needed.... I took it all! When I got to work, I just tried the door out of habit and it worked! We don't know if ice was stuck somewhere or what,  but the door works fine now?!?   Thankfully it worked and I was able to get a more stable lunch that day.    During the day, Cam got the OK to return to work on Friday, so he started messing around with my car. He got a neighbor to jump it, and after I called a battery place who said they would replace it----- even in MY car where the battery is NOT visible from the top, but is located down, underneath car parts--- he headed down there. Luckily, he didn't turn the car off because the guys working told him that they could NOT replace it..... so off to Wal-Mart he went. They took Cam's phone number and said that they would call when it was done.... and that it should last about an hour.... 3 hours later, after zero phone calls and the inability to get a hold of anyone over there, we headed over. They had been paging us in the store (but never called) because they needed the special lug nut piece to take my tire off..... When I finally located it, it took another hour.... so at exactly 7 o'clock, we got the car back....we ran and grabbed some dinner and made it home in time for Idol!

Friday morning, I woke up with a cold and Cam was still feeling sluggish from his draining week! By Friday evening, he was sound asleep at 6 and I had a hard time keeping my eyes open all evening.....What a week!

Now, Cam is at work and I'm still fighting this cold..... looks like it's going to be a lazy Saturday....... and we even have to miss a little boy's 2nd birthday party :(

Toning Tuesday- Dolphin Plank

I've started teaching a yoga/Pilates class after work for some co-workers! I am loving it! I've decided to take what I'm doing there and make weekly suggestions of new things for you to try.

While in Dolphin Plank, keep your core engaged (belly button pulled back towards that spine, and keep everything tight) and keep your body as level as possible.

Then raise your bottom in the air and push the floor away through your elbows and shoulder blades.Try to reach your heels for the floor.
