Oh, so many scarves!

Scarves. Scarves. Scarves! I'm almost to the 30 mark (many not shown in this picture) and I love them!! I would say that I wear a scarf at least 3 days a week and I love switching up my style with a simple addition (that keeps my neck warm and tension headaches away during the fall/winter). So... when my collection started growing and growing, I wanted to find a way to organize them.... and guess what... I went to Pinterest..... BUT.... (and a HUGE but).... she let me down. (Yes, Pinterest is a girl. Only a female would be as brilliant as Pinterest, right?)

How did she let me down, you ask? This picture proves that they are all organized so neatly.....

but guess what...

when there is a shift in  power weight when removing a scarf.. this happens:

On top of this teeny tiny huge problem, I chose to use vintage hangers that were in our house when we bought it instead of tacky plastic ones, but the wood is just a bit rough and can try to snag my thinner scarves, so I have to be very careful.

For now, I can deal with these problems, but I'm looking for another solution...

I bypassed these options...

Because of the size and quantity of my collection and specific scarves, I found several ways of organizing not practical. I started with a shoe organizer but many were too thick and spilled out the top, making it look tacky and sloppy. Plus, I like being able to see the colors of the scarf when picking my outfit, and you just can't if it's tucked away in a pocket. The curtain rod wouldn't hold enough--- I would need two and three, and that takes a lot of wall space. And... the mess of rings looks like a hassle to get scarves in and out.... too time consuming for me :/  I'm a bit lazy..

Then, I found this:

Seems logical. I have space on the back of a door for this.... and as long as the metal is coated without any snag spots, I think it would keep them looking nice.... Anyone used this method?

How do YOU organize your scarves???
Until Next Time...

Fun Finds Friday

It's Friday yet again....where has the week gone?!?!  Here are some Fun Finds.....

 Wal-Mart
They've done the work for you! It's cut to size, edges won't fray
and it's just screaming, "Use me for your Pinterest projects!!!"

 Hallmark
I loved this!

Wal-Mart
Do I need these?? No. But could I see a kid loving these. Yes!

Wal-Mart
Hello scarves! So, in case you don't know... I love scarves. I'm up to about 30, but it's an addiction. They dress an outfit up so easily! Wal-Mart is one of my favorite places to get them, so when I saw their new display, I was giddy! (I don't spend much on my scarves... they can get picked so easily!)

Shoe Carnival
Hello adorable! If money grew on trees at my house, my niece would be getting these ridiculously expensive (but absolutely adorable) shoes for Christmas....but I've yet to find the seeds to that magical tree, so I just took a picture instead :)

Any good finds that I should know about???
Until Next Time....

Oh my goodness... Here's a sneak peek of posts to come...

Hey everybody! I cannot believe how long it has been since I last wrote a serious post! I have been crazy busy...... and I do mean crazy busy. I was working until 6 or later a lot of evenings, coming home and doing Insanity, grabbing some dinner, showering and crawling into bed just to hit repeat the next day..... I barely watched TV (only if Cam had it on while I was doing something else in the room--- I've missed so many Army Wives and Client List... it's sad) and had to squeeze in some running time....... Then, the day school ended, we headed to the airport for a quick trip out west to visit with my brother and immediately following that, Cam and I were both in a wedding..... and that was all before June 2! I've had a crazy past few months..... so here's a sneak peek in photos of all the posts to come...

I hope the start of summer is going well for all... I'm about to finish Insanity and ready to jump into another workout routine... I'm addicted! I'm also about to begin the train for a fall half-marathon..... I'm so excited for what is to come!

Until Next Time..

A broke girl's favorite beauty stuff...

I blogged before about how I am not fashionable in any sense of the word.... I'm not. I don't know much about clothing, makeup or hair.... but I know that a lot of stuff that I find to help in those areas are out of my price range... I have to find stuff to make me feel good about myself in stores like Wal-Mart or Target, on poor girl budget...

This is just a broke girl's opinion of good beauty products...
Tryin' to look good on a budget...

NYC lengthening mascara--- super cheap but I like it.
I like it better than some of the $7-$15 tubes!

ELF Eyelide Primer--- it's about $3 at Target and I love it.
It might even be better than Bare Minerals' 'well rested' powder that I can't afford.

Maybelline New York Fit Me Concealer--- This was about $6 at Wal-Mart and it covers dark undereyes really well!

Rimmel London--- 002 Smokey  Brun    This is the set for the perfect brown smokey eye!
It's only $3 or so. I have the purple set as well, but I don't like it as much.

Remington hair straightener....
I can go to bed with wet hair (my hair curls and waves when it dries naturally), and have perfectly straight hair within 7 minutes in the morning.
It also will do curls like a Chi.

Dove Amplifier Mousse--- I can't afford Aquage or whatever, so this is my broke girl verson.
The bottle says to apply it to the hands and work it in, but I apply it straight to the scalp, work it on and then blow dry. It creates so much lift at the root!

Suave Dry Shampoo--- I love this stuff! It helps me go three+ days without shampooing. Don't judge! :)

Salon Grafix Hair Spray--- This is better than Aqua Net, which used to be my favorite.

Teasing Pick--- enough said :)

So to all you poor girls like me.... what are your favorite beauty products??
Until Next Time...

What I wore....

Hey! I'm home on another snow day.... so what better to do than blog, pin, put off house work, upload pictures and drink cocoa :)   Sounds like a perfect snow day for when you've got a sinus infection anyway!
Let me preface this post with:
I have never (EVER!) been one that felt like I knew anything about fashion... at all. I'm usually one to wear boring outfits and never 'step outside the box.'    But I have to share an outfit that I tried to recreate yesterday from one I had seen on Pinterest....of course I didn't pin it when I saw it, so it's Never-to-be-seen-again Land.

*****Unfortunately, due to a new format, previous pins will no longer appear*****
It was something like this:

or this:

But the original had a denim shirt with it....anyway.

I bought red pants for a crazy dress up day at work... and I decided it was time to rock them after seeing the adorable (original) pin. I don't have a cheetah scarf, but I have a black and gray leopardish one. Tied it together with a black shirt and denim over shirt. It's winter here and I am teaching Kindergarten, so I was not about to do cutesy sandals or heels, so I wore my black boots. I think the total outfit would be about $30-$40.

Red pants: $9 Wal-Mart this season
Black shirt: $6  TJMAXX this fall
Denim shirt: $3 (I think) at Wal-Mart about 10 years ago.
Scarf: Free at Carson's with a free $10 coupon to spend. Clearance price was actually $3 I think.
Boots: $15-$20ish at Sears last season.

Yes, I know it's a bad picture.
Yes, I know my mirror is dirty.
Yes, I know my bathroom counter is messy...
I snapped this after a very long day so that I could throw on sweats and eat dinner.

So.... did I pull it off or is this an outfit that should be retired??
Until Next Time...
